Brewers top prospect Andrew Fischer didn't need to get to the big leagues before delivering his first big-league moment.
The corner infielder and first-round draft choice for Milwaukee in 2025 drilled a solo home run for Team Italy against Great Britain on March 8, facing off at Daikin Park in Houston.

The third-inning blast was the front end of back-to-back homers from Italy that tied the game at 2-2. Fischer delivered again in the fourth, smoking a go-ahead single to the left side that was kept on the infield, but Fischer reached when Great Britain pitcher Nick Wells was late to cover.
Italy went on to win, 7-3, holding off a bases-loaded opportunity for Great Britain in the ninth.
Brewers minor leaguer Jack Seppings worked in relief for Great Britain, allowing two runs on four hits in 1โ innings.
Fischer did not play in Italy's 8-0 win over Brazil on March 7.
Brice Turang's four-RBI game and other WBC highlights involving Brewers
Brice Turang (USA) hit a bases-clearing double and finished 3 for 6 with four RBIs in USA's 15-5 win over Brazil on March 6. He hit two doubles in the win.

Mexico defeated Great Britain on March 6, 8-2, with shortstop Joey Ortiz doubling in a run. But the real Ortiz highlight came in the field, where he made a highlight-reel play for an out in the eighth.

The Brewers' two middle infielders will square off Monday, March 9, when USA faces Mexico at 7 p.m. CT.
Minor-league pitcher Stiven Cruz had aa appearance to remember for Nicaragua on March 6, working a 1-2-3 fifth inning including a strikeout of perennial MVP candidate Juan Soto to preserve a 3-3 tie in the fifth against the Dominican Republic.
Cruz's outing, however, didn't end there. He served up a double and homer to Manny Machado and Junior Caminero, respectively, leading off the sixth. The DR won the game, 12-3. Other notes:
- Freddy Zamora, a Brewers Class AAA infielder, doubled and drove in a run for Nicaragua.
- Former Brewers catcher Alex Hall hit his second home run of the WBC for Australia in the ninth inning March 8, but it wasn't quite enough for the Aussies to stage a shocker against Japan in a 4-3 loss.
- Angel Zerpa (Venezuela) and Abner Uribe (Dominican Republic) both have scoreless innings in blowout wins.
