Last suspect in Angelo Musitano hit busted in Mexico
· Toronto Sun

For nearly a decade, one of the men accused of killing Hamilton Mob scion Angelo Musitano and an innocent bystander has been on the run.
Cops believed that like a flock of other alleged Canadian criminals, Daniel Tomassetti was hiding out in Mexico following the brazen 2017 hit that kicked off an underworld war in Southern Ontario.

Now, according to the Hamilton Spectator , Tomassetti’s time on the run has come to an end. He reportedly was arrested last August in Mexico City and cops are waiting for him to be extradited back to Canada.
Why it has taken so long to announce his arrest is unclear.
Fears for his life
The Spec added that he is fighting extradition because he fears for his life if he is returned to Canada. Police had earlier indicated that his family said he was terrified.
A one-time travel agency operator, Tomasetti is charged with two counts each of first-degree murder and attempted murder.
The murders were part of a powerplay against the Musitano crime family and kicked off three years of tit-for-tat underworld bloodshed culminating in the July 2020 rubout of boss Pasquale “Fat Pat” Musitano in a daylight hit at a Burlington strip plaza.
As homicide detectives closed in late 2017, Tomassetti did a runner and flew to Cancun, Mexico on Jan. 27, 2018. He had been under police surveillance at the time. Citing court records, the Spec reported he slipped away by leaving his phone at home and having someone else take him to the airport.
Tomasetti reportedly had connections in Mexico and it was also where his alleged co-conspirator and the suspected triggerman, Michael Cudmore, had fled.
In 2023, Tomasetti made the all-star team of the 25 most wanted criminals in Canada as part of the Bolo program.
Others connected to murder have died
But there was speculation that he had been planted in the Mexican desert. Two others connected to the murders died in Mexico, including the suspected triggerman, Michael Cudmore.
Tomassetti allegedly brought a high school friend into the plot but the man, later released, knew nothing of the murders and had his eye on easy dough. According to the Spec, Tomassetti’s phone was linked to people cops suspect ordered the hits.
They have never been named.
Cudmore was more a low-rent Hamilton thug looking to move up to the big time. Cops linked him to outlaw motorcycle gangs and other shady figures from the criminal milieu.
He fled Canada just 18 days after Angelo Musitano was taken off the board. In Mexico, he joined gangster Daniele Ranieri of Bolton, who was also implicated in the plot and was likewise running from cops.
There was no happy ending for the pair under the broiling Mexican sun. Ranieri was discovered dead in a Mexican ditch in 2018. He had been bound and murdered.
The end for Cudmore came in June 2020 when he was found deceased in a burned-out car at the side of a rural road.
Canada and Mexico have an extradition treaty but it is unclear how long it will take to bring Daniel Tomassetti home to face justice.
