Nowacki named Jersey Sports Person of the Year

World Junior swimming champion Filip Nowacki has been named Jersey's 2025 Sports Person of the Year.
The 18-year-old won the 100m and 200m breaststroke at the World Junior Championships in August as well as four gold medals at the European Junior Championships.

Nowacki also took home eight gold medals representing Jersey at the 2025 Island Games in Orkney having begun the season with his first medal at the British Senior Championships.
He is set to compete for the island at this summer's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and is part of the Team GB set-up focusing on the next Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, Farmers Cricket Club were named Team of the Year after winning the European Cricket League last March.
The island side beat Italian club Roma by 42 runs in the final in Spain to become the first Jersey team to win the title - local rivals Old Victorians made the 2024 final.
Swimmer Sam Sterry was named the best youngster after winning the 400m, 800m, and 1500m titles at the British Junior Championships last April.
He went on to represent Great Britain at the Len Cup in Cyprus where he finished as the top male British swimmer at 10,000m and in the top 30 overall in open category.
