The Boston Bruins picked up a huge 4-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings amid their playoff push.
Boston trailed 2-1 early into the third period, but the Bruins stayed calm as Elias Lindholm tied the game up before Nikita Zadorov scored three minutes later, and Marat Khustnutdinov added an empty-netter for a big road win.
“We’ve been down in the third period a couple of times lately, but there’s no quitting in this team,” forward Elias Lindholm said on Saturday, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “We just stay with it and keep playing the same way, and we seem to find ways to win.”
In the win, Bruins star goalie Jeremy Swayman made 41 saves, and head coach Marco Sturm credited the goalie for the win.
“That was the best I’ve seen (Swayman) play since I’ve been around,” Sturm said. “He was unbelievable. He won the game for us.”
It was a huge win for the Bruins, who are now two points up on the Red Wings and three points up on the New York Islanders, who are currently just outside of a playoff spot.
Boston, meanwhile, is also tied in points with the Montreal Canadiens for third place in the Atlantic Division, but the Canadiens have played one less game.
The Bruins will return to the ice on Tuesday at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
