· The South African

It was a case of so close, yet so far for the all-South African Southern Guards GC quartet at the inaugural LIV Golf South Africa event at Steyn City on Sunday.
The foursome of Branden Grace, Dean Burmester, Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel finished on a combined 75-under par for the 72 holes.

However, that proved one shot shy of the winning total of 76-under par posted by the Crushers GC team of Bryson DeChambeau, Paul Casey, Charles Howell III and Anirban Lahiri.
Split four ways
Grace finished in a tie for third place and won $1 100 000 (R18.8 million), while Burmester had to be content with a share of sixth spot and $650 000 (R11.1 million) in earnings.
Oosthuizen ended in a tie for 17th and took home $250 000 (R4.3 million), while Schwartzel banked $187 500 (R3.2 million) for his T24 finish.
In addition, their second-place finish in the team competition was worth $1.5 million (R25.6 million) which when split equally four-ways amounted to a further $375 000 (R6.4 million) each.

Meanwhile, DeChambeau birdied the par-5 18th hole in the playoff to deny Spainâs Jon Rahm the title after the pair had finished the 72-hole tournament on 26-under par.

With the win, DeChambeau took home his second $4 million prize of the season and heads into the Masters at Augusta National from 9 to 12 April with plenty of momentum.
