Texas A&M baseball handles HCU, 5-1, ahead of next SEC showdown

Texas A&M baseball handled Houston Christian on Tuesday night, claiming a 5-1 victory over the Huskies at Blue Bell Park in Bryan-College Station.

Ranked fourth in the Southeastern Conference with a .857 slugging percentage after the series loss against the Georgia Bulldogs, center fielder Caden Sorrell got the Aggies on the board in the first with a one-out solo home run to right field. The 355-foot blast marked the junior's 12th of the season, which ties his career-high for most homers in a season.

Texas A&M plated another from an RBI groundout off the bat of Zane Becker in the second inning to give the Aggies a 2-0 lead over HCU. Two innings later, freshman Jorian Wilson flexed his power at the plate with his second home run of 2026 in the fourth. He followed that by throwing a beam from right field to home plate, preventing the Huskies from plating a run at the top of the fifth.

While the Aggies continued to add to their lead, the bullpen did its job by striking out nine and allowing no walks in the contest. Cole Hubert, Grant Cunnigham, Juan Vargas and Clayton Freshcorn allowed eight hits, but just one run crossed the plate for the Huskies at Blue Bell Park on Tuesday night.

With the win over HCU, Texas A&M improved to 19-5 overall, including 17-1 against non-conference opponents. The Aggies remain undefeated in midweek competition and have dropped just two contests (9-4 and 8-2 losses against Georgia) in College Station in 2026.

Next up, Texas A&M will travel to Columbia, Missouri, and open the weekend series against Mizzou on Friday. Game 1 is slated to start at 6 p.m. CT, followed by Game 2 (Saturday at 4 p.m. CT) and Game 3 (Sunday at 1 p.m. CT). All games will be broadcast live on SEC Network+.
