Fire breaks out on Signal Hill

Ground firefighting crews from South African National Parks (SANParks) are actively battling a vegetation fire that broke out on Signal Hill in Cape Town on Monday.
According to authorities, the incident is currently being managed by SANParks’ Fire Management teams, who are working to assess the spread of the blaze and implement containment measures.

Officials said the cause of the fire is not yet known.
At this stage, there have been no reports of injuries or damage to property, although the situation remains ongoing as firefighting operations continue.
Required significant resources
The flare-up comes while emergency services are still dealing with another wildfire in the Vlakkenberg area, which started along the Hout Bay Pipe Track on 24 March and has required significant firefighting resources in recent days.
Residents and hikers have been urged to avoid areas near Signal Hill and surrounding trails to allow emergency crews safe access as they work to bring the fire under control.
