Child grant payment dates for upcoming months

According to SASSA, child support grant beneficiaries will receive payments on 8 April and 7 May 2026, following payments made to older persons and disability grant recipients.

The agency explained that payments are staggered to ensure better access and reduced overcrowding.

“The general principle for determining the grant payment dates for social grants is to ensure they are paid as early in the month as possible, staggered over three days,” SASSA said.

This system allows caregivers to access funds efficiently without long delays.

Scheduling considerations explained

SASSA highlighted several factors that influence how payment dates are set each month.

The agency noted that “payment dates should not fall over a weekend,” and also confirmed that payments are not scheduled on the first day of the month or immediately after public holidays.

If a scheduled date falls on a weekend or holiday, payments are automatically moved to the next working day.

These guidelines ensure smoother transactions and reliable access to funds for beneficiaries across the country.

Grant increases bring relief

From April, caregivers will receive increased financial support through the Child Support Grant.

The grant will rise by R20, bringing the monthly amount to R580. Although modest, the increase is expected to provide some relief to households facing financial pressure.

SASSA reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring consistent payments, stating that beneficiaries who experience delays should seek assistance.

“SASSA reiterates its commitment to paying social grants to eligible beneficiaries at the right time,” the agency said.
