No. 10 Florida State softball erases 4-run deficit, sweeps Notre Dame

After falling into an early four-run hole, No. 10 Florida State responded with 13 hits and airtight defense to finish a series sweep, defeating Notre Dame 8-4 on Saturday at JoAnne Graf Field and extending its NCAA-leading winning streak to 24 games.
The Seminoles (35-4, 12-0 ACC) trailed 4-0 in the second inning after the Fighting Irish (16-21, 5-10) used an RBI double and a three-run home run to score all four of their runs. FSU allowed just two hits the rest of the way.

FSU began chipping away in the third. Isa Torres walked and moved to third on a throwing error after a single by Marin Heller. Ashtyn Danley followed with a hard-hit infield single to score Torres, then stole second. Danley and Heller both scored on a single by Anna Hinde to cut the deficit to 4-3.
The Seminoles tied the game in the fourth when Torres walked again, stole second and scored on a triple by Jaysoni Beachum to center field.
FSU took its first lead in the fifth inning. Danley doubled down the left-field line and scored on a double by Kennedy Harp.
The Seminoles added insurance in the sixth. Beachum and Heller singled, and both scored on another single by Hinde. After Makenna Sturgis doubled to move Hinde to third, Harp drove in Hinde with a single for an 8-4 lead.
Five Florida State players recorded multiple hits as the Seminoles finished with 13 total. Harp led the way, going 3-for-4, while the defense turned double plays in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
Bella Dimitrijevic started for Florida State and allowed four runs on five hits over 2 1/3 innings. Jazzy Francik (14-1) earned the win in relief, giving up one hit with two strikeouts over 2 2/3 innings. Danley closed the game, striking out one and earning her second save of the season.
FSU returns to action Wednesday at Santa Clara. First pitch is set for 9 p.m., and the game will stream on ESPN+.
