Florida baseball had a bit of a rough go at it this past week, dropping its first midweek matchup of the season to the Jacksonville Dolphins on Tuesday before dropping two of three at home to the Ole Miss Rebels.

Surprisingly, the USA TODAY Sports Baseball Coaches Poll remained bullish enough on the Gators, keeping them among the top 25 — but just barely — at No. 24. That wedges the Orange and Blue between the No. 23 NC State Wolfpack and No. 25 Boston College Eagles in the first rankings of April.
Next up for Kevin O'Sullivan's squad is the third and final game of the season series against the Florida State Seminoles, which will be played in Tallahassee on Tuesday night. Florida has already clinched the series win and looks to complete the sweep on enemy ground.
The Gators then head to Athens this weekend to take on another fierce rival — the Georgia Bulldogs — in a three-game series starting on Friday night. This will be an important stretch for the team as it faces a pair of top-10 teams over the next seven days.
SEC schools in USA TODAY Baseball Coaches Poll Week 8
The Southeastern Conference lost one of its schools from the top 25 with the Kentucky Wildcats falling out, leaving the SEC with nine teams among the upper echelon of the sport.
The Texas Longhorns are still the top-ranked SEC team at No. 2 overall, followed by Georgia (No. 4), the Mississippi State Bulldogs (No. 8) and Alabama Crimson Tide (No. 9), who also sit among the top 10. The Auburn Tigers (No. 12), Texas A&M Aggies (No. 15), Oklahoma Sooners (No. 18), Arkansas Razorbacks (No. 22) and Florida (No. 24) round out the conference's representation among the top 25.
The Ole Miss Rebels hold the de facto No. 26 position with 64 votes, immediately followed by the LSU Tigers with 56, and Kentucky two spots behind them with 41. The Vanderbilt Commodores also appeared on the ballot this week with eight votes.
