According to the municipality, “the planned maintenance and upgrade work on the water supply network in Bronberg Extension 38… has been postponed to Tuesday, 14 April.”
Maintenance work that will cause water outage has been rescheduled
The city’s Water and Sanitation Business Unit said the project will be carried out at the corner of Leander and Achilles Way roads. Officials emphasised that the upgrade forms part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure reliability in the affected areas.
The work is expected to take approximately nine hours, starting at 8:00 and ending at 17:00. During this period, “a water supply interruption may be experienced” across several neighbourhoods linked to the network.
Areas expected to be affected
The water outage will affect multiple residential extensions, including Boardwalk Extensions 3, 7, 9, and 20, as well as Bronberg Extensions 2, 10, 14, 20, and 22. Residents in Olympus Extension 1 and Villa Esplanade will also be affected.
Additional disruptions will be felt in areas located west of Ajax Street and east of January Masilela Street. The affected zone further stretches north of Leander Road and Achilles Road, and south of Serene Street.
The city estimates that approximately 2500 stands will experience water supply interruptions during the maintenance period, highlighting the scale of the planned shutdown.
City urges patience from residentsThe City of Tshwane has apologised for the inconvenience caused by both the postponement and the upcoming disruption. The city acknowledged that delays can be frustrating, but maintained that the work remains necessary to ensure a stable water supply in the long term.
In a statement, the municipality said it “apologises for any inconvenience caused by the postponement and appreciates residents’ patience and cooperation during the upcoming maintenance work.”
Residents are encouraged to store enough water ahead of the scheduled interruption and to use available supplies sparingly during the outage.
