The Chicago White Sox have a ton of talent in their minor league system that will soon help transform them into a potential competitor in the American League Central. With most of their young core already on the major league roster — headlined by shortstop Colson Montgomery and right-hander Grant Taylor — the White Sox will add to it by calling up two more of their top prospects.

The Chicago White Sox are promoting left-hander Noah Schultz and infielder Sam Antonacci

According to Just Baseball’s Elijah Evans, the White Sox are promoting two of their top prospects, left-hander Noah Schultz (White Sox No. 2 prospect, MLB No. 46) and infielder Sam Antonacci (White Sox No. 9 prospect). Schultz, 22, has a 3-0 record with a 1.29 ERA and 19 strikeouts (two walks) in 14.0 innings, while Antonacci, 23, is batting .317 with a .997 OPS, two home runs, six RBI, and has walked (14) more than he's struck out (six).

Noah Schultz and Sam Antonaccin should make an impact right away for the White Sox

Antoannci has been playing the outfield down in Charlotte to expand his versatility, and with the White Sox having a need. The Springfield, Illinois native, should receive a decent amount of playing time in the outfield and possibly at third base with Miguel Vargas struggling. Vargas is batting .196 with a .703 OPS and has provided okay defense at third base (zero defensive runs saved).

As for the hometown kid (Naperville, Illinois), Schultz will join a starting rotation that has had little success to begin the season. The White Sox have the fourth-worst starters’ ERA (4.67) in baseball and optioned their Opening Day starter, right-hander Shane Smith, to Triple-A after having a 10.80 ERA in three starts.
