Terry was the head coach of the Longhorns from 2022-25. He also was the head coach at Fresno State (2011-18) and UTEP (2018-21). Since his firing from Texas, Terry has been an analyst for ESPN.
Mark Byington lost assistant Jon Cremins, who was hired as the head coach at Georgia State, and Kenneth Mangrum, who left for Georgia Tech. Mangrum was replaced with Ohio State assistant Joel Justus.
Terry has also been an assistant in the past, both at Baylor and then in two different stints at Texas. Outside of his gig at Fresno State, Terry has not worked outside the state of Texas.
Terry will be the second person with SEC head coaching experience to be on the Commodores' staff. Rick Ray, who was previously the coach at Mississippi State, is also on staff.
