Giants Ride Roupp’s Gem, Late Rally to Snap Skid

The San Francisco Giants leaned on a breakout performance from Landen Roupp, who delivered six dominant innings in a 3-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.

Roupp worked efficiently throughout, mixing his pitches well while striking out six and issuing only two walks. A brief moment of trouble came in the sixth after a hit batter and the Reds’ first hit, but he quickly erased the threat with a strikeout and a double play to preserve the shutout.

Bullpen Slams the Door

After Roupp exited, the Giants’ bullpen took over seamlessly. Ryan Walker handled the seventh, while Keaton Winn added a pair of strikeouts in the eighth to maintain control.

In the ninth, Erik Miller delivered a statement finish, striking out the side to secure his first career save. The combined effort ensured Cincinnati was held to just one hit, ending their recent stretch of offensive success.

Seventh-Inning Breakthrough

Offensively, the Giants capitalized on an opportunity in the seventh inning to break a scoreless tie. Luis Arraez reached to open the frame, setting the stage for a two-out rally.

Matt Chapman came through with a clutch extra-base hit, driving a ball into the gap to bring home the game’s first run. Jung Hoo Lee followed with a run-scoring single, extending the lead.

The pressure continued as the Giants added another run later in the inning, taking advantage of defensive miscues and patient at-bats to build a three-run cushion.

Bats Break Through Late

For much of the afternoon, the Giants were held in check by Cincinnati starter Chase Burns, who kept hitters off balance and limited hard contact. However, San Francisco remained patient and finally broke through once the Reds turned to their bullpen.

The late rally highlighted the Giants’ ability to capitalize on mistakes, turning a tight pitchers’ duel into a comfortable win.

Momentum Shift

The victory snapped a four-game losing streak and allowed the Giants to avoid a sweep, providing a much-needed boost as they head into their next series. Strong pitching and timely hitting offered a blueprint for success moving forward.
