The Division I Men's and Women's Golf Oversight Committee submitted a proposal earlier this year to discuss changing the dates for student-athletes to enter the transfer portal. The committee filed an amendment to rule 13.1.1.4, which reads as follows: specify that an undergraduate student-athlete may initiate notification of transfer Dec. 1-15 or a 15 consecutive-day period beginning the day after the conclusion of the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Golf Championships, respectively.

The Division I Council approved the changes this week. The dates for the women's transfer portal are now open May 28-June 11 with the men's portal opening from June 4-18.

There remains a portal window open from Dec. 1-15, as well.

During its February filing, the Oversight Committee said the old timing of the 30-day notification of transfer period raised concerns related to preserving the integrity of the Division I Men's and Women's Golf Championships. Modifying the notification of transfer window maintains the integrity of the championships and allows all student-athletes to conclude their seasons before engaging in activities related to transferring. The Oversight Committee says reducing the duration of the window is supported by data from the NCAA Transfer Portal, which confirms most student-athletes whose name are entered into the transfer portal complete the process in an expedited manner.

And now, those dates have been finalized. Previously, the women's portal was set to open May 6 and close June 4. The men's portal window would have opened May 13 and closed June 11.
