Where Alabama baseball ranks in Baseball Coaches Poll after Texas win

· Yahoo Sports

Alabama baseball picked up a much-needed win on Sunday to snap a five-game losing streak in SEC play.

Myles Upchurch and Ashton Crowther combined to allow just four hits, and the Crimson Tide defeated the fourth-ranked Texas Longhorns, 2-1, at Disch-Falk Field in Austin.

Upchurch (5-2) tossed 5 1/3 scoreless innings and gave up three walks but allowed just one hit for his fifth win. The freshman threw 102 pitches, striking out four batters. Crowther worked the final 3 2/3 innings and overcame a scare in the ninth inning to record an 11-out save.

Jason Torres ripped a single back up the middle for a 1-0 Alabama lead in the second inning, and the Crimson Tide added their only other run in the seventh when Brady Neal grounded into a double play that scored Bryce Fowler. Torres (2-for-3) had two hits and a walk for Alabama, which finished with eight hits.

The win was a sorely needed reprieve after the Tide suffered a 10-2 blowout loss in Friday's series opener and couldn't find a rhythm at the plate in a 3-1 loss Saturday. Zane Adams pitched six scoreless frames and struck out seven without allowing a walk in Game 2, but Alabama managed just one hit after the first inning.

Alabama is 28-13 overall and 9-9 in conference play with four weekend series remaining before the SEC Tournament begins on May 19 in Hoover.

After a 2-2 week in Week 10 of the 2026 NCAA baseball season, here's where coach Rob Vaughn's Crimson Tide rank in Monday's new USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Alabama's ranking in Baseball Coaches Poll revealed after avoiding sweep at Texas

In Monday's new Coaches Poll, Alabama dropped two spots to No. 15. It's a modest drop for the Crimson Tide, who play in the toughest conference in college baseball. The rankings bear that out with 10 SEC teams ranked in the top 25, and five in the 11 spots. The ACC is second with five ranked teams.

Alabama is ranked one spot above the Nebraska Cornhuskers and one spot below the Oklahoma Sooners. The UCLA Bruins (36-3) are ranked No. 1 for the eighth consecutive week. Nebraska saw the biggest rise of any team, climbing nine spots in this week's poll. Southern California had the biggest drop, falling 14 spots.

Here's a look at the full 1-25 rankings in the USA TODAY Sports Baseball Coaches Poll on April 20.
