NFL mock draft: Arizona Cardinals miss out on Ty Simpson
· Yahoo Sports
The 2026 NFL draft is day away, and that means some final mock drafts are coming in. When it comes to the Arizona Cardinals, almost everyone has them trading back up into the first round to get Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson.

In a seven-round mock draft by NFL.com's Chad Reuter, the New York Jets foil any thought of the Cardinals getting Simpson. They take him 16th overall.
The Cardinals don't trade back from the third overall pick and they don't take running back Jeremiyah Love. They do get a quarterback, though.
Cardinals' picks in Chad Reuter's mock draft
- Round 1: Texas Tech EDGE David Bailey
- Round 2: Arizona State OT Max Iheanachor
- Round 3: Miami QB Carson Beck
- Round 4: Missouri LB Josiah Trotter
- Round 5: Southeastern Louisiana DT Kaleb Proctor
- Round 6: Indiana S Louis Moore
- Round 7: Cincinnati WR Cyrus Allen
What we think of the picks
Based on the makeup of the Cardinals' roster currently, their first two picks are a best-case scenario. They get a potential stud pass rusher and a right tackle who can immediately start.
Now, if their goal is to get Simpson, that is disappointing, but there is some question as to his quality as a prospect.
Beck would be a better pick on Day 3, but it is understandable that they want to make sure they get a quarterback.
Every pick on Day 3 is fine. They fill needs they have and are decent prospects considering where they are selected.
