Vote for the Boys Athlete of the Week for April 13-19

The winner of last week’s Boys Athlete of the Week poll was New Bedford’s Jonah Wahnon. He had more than 1,000 votes (43%) to receive the honor.
In a win over Silver Lake, Wahnon, a freshman, had a career-high 31 assists. He also had 10 assists and 6 digs in a loss to Quincy.

The previous winner was Old Rochester’s Chase DeMello.
The winner of the Preseason Boys Lacrosse Player of the Year poll was New Bedford’s Logan Alves with more than 38,000 votes (44%). The winner of the Preseason Boys Volleyball Player of the Year poll was GNB Voc-Tech’s Chace Garcia with more than 3,000 votes (55%).

BOYS TRACK
Jack Boyd, Apponequet
Boyd took first in the 100 and javelin against GNB Voc-Tech.
Henry Berry, Old Rochester
Against Case, Berry took first in the long jump (21-4.5) and 200 (23.2).
Malik Washburn, Old Rochester
Washburn won the 110 hurdles (14.4) and triple jump (42-05.25) against Case.
Jeremiah Lawson, Wareham
Lawson took first in the 100 (11.1) and the 200 (22.1) against Atlantis Charter.
Ty-Rell Pires, Wareham
Against Atlantis Charter, Pires took first in the shot put (39-11) and the discus (109-10).
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Chace Garcia, GNB Voc-Tech
In three matches, Garcia has a combined 72 aces, including a career-high 31 against Durfee. He also had a career-high 14 digs against Southeastern.
Evan Monteiro, GNB Voc-Tech
In a win over Durfee, Monteiro had 11 kills and a career-high 18 digs. He also had 8 kills, 4 blocks and 9 digs against Southeastern and 7 kills and 4 blocks against Bay Path.
Jiahlex Stringer, GNB Voc-Tech
In a pair of matches against Southeastern and Bay Path, Stringer had a combined 20 kills.
Gabdiel Arroyo, New Bedford
In a win over Hingham, Arroyo had a team-high 13 kills.
Jesiah Rodrigues, New Bedford
Rodrigues had 21 assists in a win over Hingham.
BOYS LACROSSE
Colin McKay, Apponequet
McKay had a combined 4 goals and 2 assists in two games.
Joe Procaccini, Apponequet
In two games, Procaccini had a combined 4 goals and 4 assists.
Colton Smith, Apponequet
Smith had 3 goals and 1 assist in a win over Somerset Berkley.
Ben Barrette, Bishop Stang
In a pair of games against St. Mary’s and Arlington Catholic, Barrette had a combined 8 goals and 3 assists.
Andrew Lally, Bishop Stang
In three games, Lally had a combined 14 goals and 14 assists for the undefeated Spartans. He also surpassed his 300th career point against Old Rochester.
Will Sanders, Bishop Stang
Sanders had a combined 45 saves in three games.
Gavin Herman, Fairhaven
Herman recorded his third straight hat trick against Apponequet and added 1 goal and 1 assist against St. John Paul II.
Paxton Kohler, Fairhaven
Kohler had 3 goals and 2 assists in an overtime loss to St. John Paul II.
Conner Araujo, GNB Voc-Tech
Araujo had 3 goals and 2 assists in a win over Sturgis East.
Noah Tavares, GNB Voc-Tech
In two games, Tavares had a combined 6 goals and 3 assists.
Rowan Caulkins, Old Colony
Caulkins had 3 goals in a loss to Middleboro.
Nate Tobin, Old Colony
Tobin made 18 saves against Middleboro.
Tucker Cook, Old Rochester
In three games, Cook had a combined 4 goals and 4 assists.
Hunter Johnson, Old Rochester
Johnson had a combined 6 goals and 1 assist in three games.
