Ford Bronco. Denver Broncos.
Whatever your pick, both of them are awfully familiar with off-roading capabilities and climbing up mountains. When it comes to building a contender, the football team took the road less traveled – investing heavily in defense-first while the league prioritizes offense.

And it almost worked.
The Broncos rode an elite defense to the AFC Championship Game, despite being saddled with an inconsistent offense that always did just enough to win.
A shocking, season-ending injury to Bo Nix changed things ahead of that playoff matchup against the New England Patriots, when the defense almost dragged them to Super Bowl 60. Fresh off capturing the top seed in AFC, Denver is hoping for some better fortune this time around.
This 14-3 roster doesn't have many obvious needs, if any at all. After swinging a blockbuster trade for Jaylen Waddle, the Broncos are ready for kickoff.
Now they can afford to draft for luxury with their limited pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Here's what to know about the Broncos' picks, needs and a mock draft for Denver ahead of the big event.

This section will be updated after the Broncos make their first selection.
Broncos 2026 NFL Draft needs
Defensive line
John Franklin-Myers departed in free agency, representing the only real change for Denver's defense. The foundation of the unit, it would make sense to continue adding and solidifying the depth for years to come.
Tight end
If you want to be critical of the Broncos' offense, you could look to the tight end spot. Evan Engram managed just 461 yards in 2025, which can also be attributed to a somewhat lackluster passing attack. After adding Waddle to the receiver room, Denver could pick up a tight end to add another element to the pass-catching options.
Running back
J.K. Dobbins is no stranger to injury and RJ Harvey didn't stake his claim to the RB1 role during the postseason. That is one element that the Broncos are missing on offense and it's a spot they should look to address.
Broncos 2026 NFL mock draft
Here's what the Broncos could do come draft night, per Ayrton Ostly's seven-round mock draft:
- Round 2, Pick 58*: Edge R Mason Thomas, Oklahoma
- Thomas is in a similar mold to the likes of Nik Bonitto, so the Broncos leap over a few teams to secure him. Denver has needs on the interior, but that position is lacking at this point on the board. Thomas could be the rotation edge to ensure Denver’s pass rush doesn’t take a step back.
- Round 4, Pick 108: DT DaMonte Capehart, Clemson
- Round 4, Pick 111: S Michael Taaffe, Texas
- Round 7, Pick 246: RB Kaelon Black, Indiana
- Round 7, Pick 256: DT David Gusta, Kentucky
- Round 7, Pick 257: CB Kolbey Taylor, Vanderbilt
* Projected trade with the San Francisco 49ers
