According to exclusive information from Absolut Fußball, the German Football Association (DFB) is seriously considering a bid to host either the 2038 or 2042 World Cup.
Scenarios to host this global tournament are being developed, with the Rheinische Post reporting in January that centre-right political party, CDU, are the main drivers of the idea.

The CDU's motivation is to send a message to authoritarian states after the 2022 World Cup was held in Qatar, and the 2034 tournament has been awarded to Saudi Arabia.
DFB president, Bernd Neuendorf, said in November of last year: “I can fundamentally imagine that we will address this question in the future and look at under what conditions such an application is even conceivable.”
“It’s clear that there are only a few associations in the world that have the infrastructure to handle such a tournament with 48 teams and the associated demands. We can confidently say that we have excellent infrastructure.”
The success of hosting the 2024 EUROs has only boosted enthusiasm among all involved. Should Germany be given the 2038 or 2042 edition, it would be the third World Cup held in Germany after 1974 and 2006.
