BOSTON – It’s over.

The Boston Bruins’ 2025-26 campaign has come to a close. Getting to the playoffs was not something many people had the Bruins doing, but the playoffs came to a disappointing close. After the game, a Bruins defenseman revealed the injury he was playing through.

The Boston Bruins were not the only team in the organization to lose a playoff game last night.

The Sabres were not the only team to advance to the second round, either, and elsewhere around the league, the Lightning forced a Game 7 against Montreal. All but one matchup has been determined in the second round, and that will not be decided until tomorrow night.

The Devils’ new GM has started to make front office moves, and the finalists for the Jack Adams Award were revealed yesterday – no… Marco Sturm is not on there.

And the second round opens tonight at 8:00 PM (the Celtics play Game 7 at 7:30 PM).

Happy Derby Day, catch up on Bruins and league news in today’s Daily Bean:

Boston Bruins

BRUINS LOSE: The Bruins’ (2-4) playoff run came to an end with a Game 6 loss to the Buffalo Sabres (4-2) last night. David Pastrnak scored the lone Bruins’ goal, coming at 1:54 of the second period, and Charlie McAvoy got tossed for a game after slashing Zach Benson, who took McAvoy down with a slewfoot.

It is Buffalo’s first series win since 2007.

BREAK APART: The Bruins went 0-3 on home ice during the playoff run, and Marco Sturm thinks the pressure of playing at home may have gotten to his team. It was raw after the game. For a lot of the players, it was too soon to dive deep into the little details.

Marco Sturm also said he was proud of the team and that the work begins today.

NIKITA ZADOROV: On Thursday at practice, Zadorov hinted that he was dealing with something, but would not say what it was until the end of the season. Well, at the end of the season, Zadorov said, “I tore my MCL [in] Game 3. Fully torn off the bone, so I kind of played on it a little bit.”

Prospects Update

PROVIDENCE: The P-Bruins dropped their first game of the Calder Cup Playoffs last night, losing to the Springfield Thunderbirds 3-2 at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence.

They will play Game 2 on Sunday.

NHL.com: The Vegas Golden Knights are off to the second round. Brett Howden, the overtime hero in Game 5, opened the scoring for the Golden Knights. They went on to beat the Mammoth 5-1 and eliminate them in six games.
