João Pinheiro has been appointed to referee Bayern Munich’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.

The Portuguese referee has previously officiated two Bayern matches – a 2-1 away win over PSV earlier this season and a 3-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava last season.
His assistant referees will be Bruno Jesus and Luciano Maia, also from Portugal, with Espen Eskås (Norway) appointed as fourth official. The video assistant referee will be Marco Di Bello (Italy), with Tiago Martins serving as assistant VAR.
Pinheiro, 38, also officiates in the Primeira Liga and has been a FIFA-listed referee since 2016.
Among the notable matches he has overseen is the 2025 UEFA Super Cup between Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur.
