Italian Defender In The Sights

Reports in Italy claim Sunderland are tracking Parma’s Argentine defender Mariano Troilo, with the Black Cats said to be in discussions with the player’s entourage to ‘gather information and understand any room to manoeuvre’.

The 22-year-old has quickly become an important part of the Parma team after breaking through earlier this season, with the report claiming he’s a spiky character and made waves in a match against Inter Milan when he told the Italian international Nicolo Barella to “Shut up, you’re out of the World Cup!”, which forced Inter to substitute the experienced midfielder, to prevent the situation from escalating.

Parma Today claims Sunderland’s interest is concrete, although still in the exploratory phase, but Parma will want a significant offer to let go of the player.

Dossena On Sunderland Spell

Ex-Sunderland defender Andrea Dossena is currently the head coach of Serie C side Novara and during an interview with Calcio Mercato spoke about his time in the North East. With the former left back explaining how he would turn up for training and his team-mates would reek of alcohol:

My goodness… some players would arrive at training still smelling of alcohol from the night before. I didn’t have a great relationship with the coach, Poyet. When I arrived, Di Canio was there. They sent me to Rome to get treatment for an injury, and when I got back to England, I couldn’t find him: he’d argued during a meeting, and Poyet had arrived in his place. I remember he never let us watch a match again to analyze it.

An Extra Fee For Le Fee

Due to the team’s brilliant Premier League campaign, where they clinched safety with ease, Sunderland have had to fork out an extra €4m (£3.45m) to Roma for Enzo Le Fee, according to Forza Roma. That fee takes the total paid for the playmaker to just under €25m (£21.6m), with the Serie A club also having a 10% sell-on clause in the Frenchman’s contract.

Brazilian Winger Linked

Sunderland have been linked with a move for Alisson Santana, according to a report in Ukraine by Sport UA.

The Shakhtar Donetsk player was the subject of a €30m bid last summer, which the Ukrainian club rejected, and now both Sunderland and Galatasaray are said to be interested in the 20-year-old.

He has 6 goals and 5 assists in 10 games across Shaktar’s Europa League Qualifying and Conference League campaigns this season
