Vinicius had a few exchanges with Barcelona players over the 90 minutes and Gavi revealed what he told the forward at the Camp Nou.
“Vinicius is just football. What happens on the pitch stays on the pitch. He’s a hot-headed player, just like me. Vinicius is a fantastic player. I told him to shut his mouth, and that’s it,” he told reporters.
“What happens on the pitch is one thing, and what happens off it is another. On the pitch, I defend my colors and give it my all. Off the pitch, I’m completely different, even if it doesn’t seem like it.”
Gavi also spoke about Ousmane Dembele following the Frenchman’s midweek message on social media after PSG’s Champions League win over Bayern.
“Ousmane is my brother. Since I arrived here, he’s always been like a brother to me,” he added.
“He’s a very good friend of mine. We’re in close contact, we talk all the time, and I’m very happy for him because he’s one of the best in the world, if not the best along with Lamine.”
Sunday was another good night for Gavi as he was once again named in the starting XI by Flick and put in another strong showing.
The midfielder is finishing the season well after his long injury lay-off and will be hoping he is playing his way into the Spain squad for World Cup 2026.
