Blue-chip WR target cancels official visit to FSU

Florida State seemed to be in a prime position to land four-star wide Jabari Watkins in the 2027 recruiting class, especially after he put the Seminoles at the top of his list of schools over the weekend.
Things took an unfortunate turn for FSU on Tuesday. The Thomas County Central star announced that he is no longer taking his official visit to Florida State that was scheduled for June 12.

"I will no longer be taking an OV to FSU. Thank you to all the staff at FSU for the opportunity and support. No hard feelings at all — much respect to everyone involved in recruiting me at fsu. Thank you again, FSU," Watkins said on social media.
The Seminoles recruited Watkins steadily since they offered him at his first unofficial visit to Tallahassee in March of 2025. He would take three more unofficial visits, which included a Junior Day weekend in January before his last unofficial trip in March.
Watkins is the No. 253 overall player nationally and the No. 34 wide receiver per 247Sports composite rankings. He's also listed as the No. 25
FSU is still looking to land its first wide receiver in the 2027 class. In the last week, they've not only offered three-star prospect Kaden Howard, who is currently committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, but four-star Elias Pearl put Florida State in his top six schools as well, making them a few names to keep in mind for targets the Seminoles will pursue even harder.
