Panthers GM Dan Morgan is asked if QB Bryce Young is in a 'prove-it' situation

Carolina Panthers general manager Dan Morgan continues to wear his poker face when talking about the long-term outlook on quarterback Bryce Young.

Morgan joined Tuesday's episode of The Rich Eisen Show, where host Rich Eisen did his best to dig up any new info on a potential contract extension for the soon-to-be fourth-year passer. But Morgan, as he's done all offseason, stuck to the script when asked if Young has to prove that he's worth a new deal.

"I think everybody on our roster has to prove, every single day, their value and worth and everybody knows that in this building—that you have to go work and go earn everything," Morgan replied. "But yeah, Bryce—in terms of him having to earn it—everybody on the roster has to earn it.

"Again, he's headed in the right direction, we feel great about him and, again, we'll get it done at the right time."

The Panthers, in an easy decision, officially picked up Young's fifth-year option on April 29. Young is now under contract through the 2027 campaign, where he's projected to earn approximately $25.9 million.

Young's journey in the NFL hasn't been the smoothest, as he struggled through his rookie campaign and had to bounce back from a benching in his second. But 2025 saw the former No. 1 overall pick throw for career-highs in completion percentage (63.6), yards (3,011), touchdowns (23) and passer rating (87.8) while leading Carolina to their first division title since 2015.

If Young can take another step forward in 2026, Morgan may not have to side-step any more questions about his future within the organization.
