Husband caged in grisly body parts slaying of Miss Switzerland finalist
· Toronto Sun

The husband from hell who murdered a former Miss Switzerland finalist then pureed her dismembered body parts in a blender has been sentenced to life in prison.
Marc Rieben, 42, showed little remorse when the guilty verdict was read for his twisted murder of Kristina Joksimovic, 38.

Judge Daniel Schmid told the court, “There are cases that make fiction become reality. This case has changed our reality. No court ruling can fill the void left by the loss of a loved one. We as a court will also never forget you and will carry you in our hearts.”
Joksimovic was murdered on Feb. 13, 2024, when her husband exploded in rage as they discussed an impending divorce and related custody issues about their two children. Rieben demanded full custody of the kids, refused to pay alimony and refused to sign the divorce papers.
He then grabbed his wife by the throat and slammed her against the wall before using a “ribbon-like object” to strangle her. Deliberately and methodically, he began dismembering her corpse.
Pureed body parts in blender
The autopsy report revealed a sickening array of injuries, including blunt force trauma, Kristina’s face cut to ribbons, bruising across her body and hair torn from her scalp. Detectives later discovered the victim’s pureed body parts inside an industrial blender in their sprawling home.
More of her body parts had been dissolved in vats of chemicals.
And while engaged his vile tasks, Rieben watched YouTube on his phone.
Her father found her body. The only organ not found in the home was Kristina’s womb as investigators said it was “carefully removed.”
The indictment said Rieben acted “knowingly and intentionally, in full awareness and from a selfish attitude and mindset characterised by a need for control, resentment, revenge and massive anger.”
The defence argued that Joksimovic had threatened her husband with a knife.
As he addressed the court, Rieben was on the verge of tears.
“I have caused my family immeasurable suffering. Why? Why did I fail? Why couldn’t I prevent it?,” he said. “Why couldn’t I stop her from dying at my hands? I loved my wife with all my heart and believed in a future together.
“It haunts me day and night. What I did is absolutely unforgivable, and I take full responsibility. I deeply regret it, and I apologize.”
Narcissist with OCD
A court-appointed shrink, Frank Urbaniok, testified during the trial that Rieben has narcissistic traits and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
He added: “I have been working as an expert witness for 33 years and overseen 5,000 cases. I have seen many people who have committed homicides against intimate partners. But I have never seen anything like this before.”
A lawyer for the victim’s parents read a statement from the family.
“I stand here today in court as a mother who has lost her daughter. Whose children miss their mummy every day,” Anina Hofer read.
“She was loving, protective of her children, and gave them everything. Just one month after she tried to forge a new path for herself and her children, she was brutally torn from life. No verdict can bring our daughter back. But it can show that her life matters.”
