May 22—YPSILANTI, Mich. — A shining season for Dakota Wesleyan's Allison Meyerink came to an end Thursday, as the sophomore narrowly missed out on the 36-hole cut at the NAIA women's golf championship.
The championship tournament field included 30 teams, plus six individuals whose teams did not qualify, with Meyerink among the select half-dozen to face the Eagle Crest Golf Course. After 36 holes, the field of 156 golfers was trimmed to the top-15 teams in the tournament standings, plus the next top-six individuals who did not make the cut with their team.

Meyerink, the back-to-back Great Plains Athletic Conference individual champion, shot 80-78 for a two-day score of 158, which was a total of 14-over-par on the par-72 course. According to the NAIA leaderboard, the cut line for individuals was 155 strokes.
Morningside, the lone GPAC team to qualify, was also cut.
Notably, inclement weather on Wednesday, the tournament's opening day, shortened the competition to three rounds instead of four.
The shortened tournament was won by Texas Wesleyan's Makena Junkin, the No. 16-ranked golfer nationally, who shot 74-73-73 to finish with a total of 220 strokes. No. 1-ranked Jia Kataria, of Dalton State (Ga.), was one stroke back in second place (221 — 74-76-71), and No. 2-ranked Yunyi Luo, of the Savannah (Ga.) College of Art and Design, was third (222 — 75-73-74). In the team standings, Luo and SCAD bested Kataria and Dalton State by one stroke, 919 to 920.
After the second round, Meyerink held the No. 79 national ranking among NAIA women. Entering the championship tournament, she was tied for the national lead in event victories this season with six.
Meyerink's tournament effort was the last act for DWU Athletics in the 2025-26 academic year.
