Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal recently underwent a procedure for loose bodies in his elbow.

Los Angeles Dodgers star Blake Snell is undergoing the same surgery, with the belief that he can return within two months. Skubal has already started to throw the baseball, though he has a lot more incentive to do so because he's set to hit the free-agent market at the end of the season.

Snell, on the other hand, has already been paid, and has been paid handsomely, currently on a five-year, $182 million deal.

While both seem to have a lot of respect for each other, as Skubal admitted, they haven't spoken, and it didn't sound like Skubal really wanted to talk to him.

“I know Blake a little bit. I haven’t reached out. I don’t really know what his plan is. I don’t know what his MRI looks like. I don’t know how many loose bodies are in there.

“But if somehow this helps him get back to the big leagues faster and they’re more confident in doing this, awesome. If it helps other guys, I’m all for it,” Skubal said, per SI.

It's interesting that the Tigers' left-hander decided to go with a surgery that isn't typically done.

However, if it ends up working out in his favor over the next few years and he continues to throw the baseball at the level everybody knows he can, there aren't going to be many questions about it and instead, more guys like Skubal and Snell will continue to get this procedure.
