U.S. President Donald Trump has a lot of things on the go — and attending his eldest son’s wedding this weekend is low on the priority list given the war going on in the Middle East.
Donald Trump Jr. is set to marry fiancee Bettina Anderson in the Bahamas, but the event couldn’t come at a worse time.
While the president said he would “try and make it,” no one should be holding their breath given “a thing called Iran and other things.”
Trump said at an event in the Oval Office on Thursday that 48-year-old Don Jr. wants him there, but it’s a lot to juggle with everything else on his presidential plate.
‘If I do attend, I get killed’
“He’d like me to go, but it’s going to be just a small, little private affair, and I’m going to try and make it,” Trump said.
“This is not good timing for me,” he explained. “I have a thing called Iran and other things. That’s one I can’t win on.”
Trump continued: “If I do attend, I get killed. If I don’t attend, I get killed by the fake news.”
He added: “Hopefully they’re going to have a great marriage.”

Another reason Trump would not attend was to keep the couple’s ceremony as private as possible, sources told CNN .
The president’s absence appears to be a done deal as his weekend schedule doesn’t show Bahamas on his agenda.
Rather, he is set to enjoy “executive time” in Bedminster, New Jersey, where his golf club is located, according to the news network.
Don Jr.’s previous relationships
This will be Don. Jr.’s second marriage.
He was previously married to Vanessa Trump for 13 years before their divorce in 2018. On Wednesday, Vanessa — who now dates Tiger Woods — announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer .
She and Don Jr. share five kids — daughters Kai and Chloe and sons Donald III, Tristan and Spencer.
Trump Jr. was previously engaged to Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece, from 2020 to 2024.
He and Anderson, a 39-year-old Palm Beach socialite, began dating in 2024 — the same year Vanessa and Woods’ relationship quietly began — and announced their engagement in December 2025.
