With a dominant front-three in place, Bayern Munich won’t overspend on Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon

According to a report from transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich will not overspend on Newcastle United attacker even if it really likes and values the player. With a dominant front-three already in place, the Bavarians could opt to go for a less expensive option, freeing Gordon to stay in England where he could haunt the Magpies in league play:

Bayern like Anthony Gordon but they already have a front three in Díaz, Kane and Olise. So they either get a good opportunity or they won’t overspend. At the moment Bayern believe Gordon is very expensive, which is why they have alternatives. Gordon is fully expected to leave Newcastle this summer. There will be movement and clubs entering the race.
Is this Bayern Munich’s true stance or is this some posturing for the media in hopes of getting Newcastle United to lower its asking price? Both are possibilities. With deep-pocketed clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal rumored to be among the suitors for Gordon, Bayern Munich might truly get priced out of the competition.
This report also runs contrary to other news, which implied that Bayern Munich and Newcastle United could be close on a number for Gordon. Maybe that is true or maybe Romano is on-point? Either way, Bayern Munich looks like it will be actively pursuing a new attacker — within its desired price range — this summer.
