Results of Tuesday’s comparison MRI “showed a lot of improvement,’’ manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday, allowing Stanton to begin an outside running program this week.

Prior to the Yanks’ series finale against the Royals, Boone said that Stanton’s injury showed enough healing to “allow us to take that next step’’ in his rehab, including increased baseball activity.

“Hopefully, the running goes in line with how he’s feeling and he’ll start to ramp up’’ said Boone.Stanton, 36, has been on the 10-day injury list retroactive to April 25, after suffering discomfort running the base in a game at Houston.

Per Boone, there “might be’’ some live batting practice set up for both Stanton and Jasson Dominguez (left shoulder strain) once the Yankees return from a road trip that concludes Sunday at Sacramento.

But there’s no specific target for Stanton’s return to a lineup that often feels his absence.

“Having him in that middle, his presence is massive,’’ said Boone, especially against right-handed pitching, with a predominantly lefty-hitting lineup.

Stanton has been regularly hitting off the Trajekt pitching machine indoors, electronically simulating specific MLB pitchers, and he’s conducted plyometric exercises.

The switch-hitting Dominguez slammed into the left field wall making a spectacular catch during a May 7 game at Yankee Stadium and suffered a strained AC joint.

Dominguez had been called up from the minors, after Stanton landed on the IL.
