The hunt is on for a trio of killers after a man was gunned down as he returned to his home in North York Friday night.
Toronto Police say officers responded to the deadly shooting near Sheppard Ave. W. and Magellan Dr. – just east of Jane St. – around 10:15 p.m.
The victim, 27, was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“By all accounts, this gentleman was steps from his home,” Homicide Det.-Sgt. Jason Davis told reporters Saturday afternoon out front of 31 Division.

The investigator was unable to offer details of what may have led up to the murder, nor would he say whether the victim was targetted.
But he did say “several” shots were fired.
“I have no indication whatsoever that he had any interactions with the suspects at this point in time,” Davis said. “I will tell you the vehicle pulled up – the suspects were out on foot when the incident occurred.”
The victim’s name was not immediately released.
Davis said three suspects fled the scene in a dark-coloured vehicle.
But no further descriptions were available Saturday.
Cops urge public to come forward with any info
Davis said officers were in the area Saturday “canvassing for video and trying to restore a sense of safety within that community.”
He also urged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
“And I appreciate that it is concerning, but officers are there, and we will speak to you if you would like to speak with us,” Davis said. “This 27-year-old man tragically lost his life last night and every little bit of information matters.”
Gunshots also rang out at a townhouse complex in the neighbourhood around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday and responding officers found a window was damaged but nobody was injured.

“We are aware of the incident that occurred a few nights ago as well,” Davis said. “At this point in time, it is far too early in the investigation to say whether or not they are connected.”
