With two outs in the top of the eighth inning on May 29, the Knights led North Carolina State 9-3 when Mother Nature got involved again. After an hour-long rain delay, the game was suspended. It will resume at 12:02 p.m. on May 30 at Plainsman Park in Auburn, Alabama.
Bad weather had already affected Friday's outing, pushing the scheduled start time of 6 p.m. back two hours.
Once play commenced, UCF surrendered three runs in the first inning. But it rattled off nine unanswered after that, spurred by three home runs by Andrew Williamson. He is the eighth hitter in program history to blast three bombs in the same game.
The winner will face Milwaukee at 8 p.m. Saturday with a spot in the Auburn Regional final on the line. The loser will try to avoid elimination against the host Tigers at 3 p.m.
Milwaukee upset Auburn 13-8 on Friday. That contest also featured a 30-minute lightning delay.
