Aaron Donald Teases Return After Myles Garrett Trade

The Los Angeles Rams added another superstar to the team via a trade with the Cleveland Browns on Monday. In exchange for Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick and a 2029 third-round pick, the Rams acquired two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett.

In a text exchange with Pat McAfee, Donald admitted that the Garrett trade also had him thinking about that possibility.

“It for sure got me thinking,” Donald said to McAfee. “Thirty five, removed two years ago, gotta see if that fire can light back up.”
Donald retired after the 2024 season but his conversation with McAfee suggests he could consider returning to the NFL to help the Rams win the Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium next season.

Donald told McAfee he would need to see if he can still perform like the 10-time Pro Bowler he was before retirement. Donald’s former teammate Michael Brockers, who was also part of the defensive line, said Donald has remained in shape even after retirement.
“I would say that I do have some information that might be considered as some knowledge that others might not have,” Brockers said on the “Locked On Rams Squad Show” on Monday. “But I’m not going to tell it all, you know. You got to watch more of the ‘Locked On Rams’ show to get some of that.
“But I will say this: My guy is staying ready so he doesn’t have to get ready, and I’m going to just leave the audience with that so we can get some more viewers on the later show this week.”
If Donald really did come out of retirement to join forces with Garrett, the Rams would be nearly unstoppable.
