· The South African

Here’s what’s in store for PowerBall and PowerBall Xtra on Friday 5 June 2026. Unbelievably, Sizekhaya’s first-ever televised draw last night saw a lucky someone win the R130-million PowerBall. That’s the good news …

The bad news is it now resets to just R7 million for this coming Friday. Plus, there’s the R116 million for the PowerBall Xtra, don’t forget. So, R123 million in total for PowerBall and PowerBall Xtra on Friday 5 June 2026.

What a week it’s been for the national lottery in South Africa. It started out with the old operator ITHUBA hanging up its boots and us not knowing what would happen to their last PowerBall unclaimed draw of R223-million.

Then the news landed that Sizekhaya would inherit the deficit for its first go at PowerBall. And would you believe it, the firm’s claims of more jackpot winners and less ‘rollover fatigue’ has proven true. Here’s a recap of the winning numbers from last night’s draw, Tuesday 2 June 2026:

TUESDAY’S POWERBALL NUMBERS

Draw date: 2 June 2026

POWERBALL NUMBERS

2, 10, 22, 28, 49

PowerBall: 7

POWERBALL XTRA NUMBERS

4, 12, 27, 35, 41

PowerBall: 15

WHAT’S NEW WITH SIZEKHAYA LOTTO GAMES?

Well, the most notable change between ITHUBA and Sizekhaya is the cost to play. PowerBall and PowerBall Xtra on Friday 5 June 2026 now costs R10 per entry. Critically, adding the PowerBall Xtra, which you must do to be in the running for the R116 million, now costs R5. So, it’s still the best money you can spend to change your life, but it’s double the cost it was just one-week ago.

Likewise, the game mechanics for PowerBall and PowerBall Xtra on Friday 5 June 2026 have also changed. Not by much, but just enough that you should perhaps change your approach. Players are required to pick five main numbers from 1 to 50. And the PowerBall numbers now range from 1 to 16, and not 1 to 20 like before. So, slightly better odds. As ever, the argument over whether you should choose numbers manually or use an auto-generated Quick Pick rages on.

Likewise, purchasing tickets in-store or through your banking app has not changed. Alternatively, you can create an account online with Sizekhaya or through its mobile app. If you are buying tickets from a lottery outlet, sales close at 20:30 on the day of a draw. And players must be 18 years of age to play.

Don’t forget that Sizekhaya also has its Lotto and Lotto Plus draw running tonight, too. Like PowerBall and PowerBall Xtra on Friday 5 June 2026, this one was also blessed by carrying over ITHUBA’s R33-million rollover. Entries have double, but you still get three chances to win like before.
