Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Adolis Garcia will spend an extended amount of time on the injured list with a torn right lat muscle.

For the time being, the Phillies have Gabriel Rincones Jr. and Derek Hill as corner outfield options.

But Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski may not be comfortable with that duo for long. They'll need to make an external addition, most likely via trade.

Dayn Perry of CBS Sports tabbed an outfielder from the Chicago Cubs as someone who can fill in Garcia's shoes. The right-handed hitter is having a better offensive season than Garcia was, and he's playing under an expiring contract.

"It also bears repeating that having a third wild card spot in each league significantly lowers the bar for contention," Perry wrote about the Cubs' odds of trading Suzuki. "If, however, they decide to part with the 31-year-old Suzuki, then he could be a fit in Philly."

Similar to Garcia, Suzuki plays right field but would be better suited as a full-time DH. Neither player possesses strong defensive qualities. He has 10 home runs with an 116 OPS+ in 55 games this season.

Of course, the Cubs will only trade Suzuki to the Phillies for the right price. However, that may not require Dombrowski to give up his top prospects. Again, Suzuki reaches free agency at the end of the season.

Losing Garcia is a tough blow for the Phillies, but there are many different ways they can improve the roster during their Wild Card chase.

Acquiring Suzuki would be one of those ways.
