Warriors have been 'in contact' with Porzingis and Green prior to FA

The Warriors are in a precarious situation this offseason. Although they are looking to build a championship contender around former two-time MVP Stephen Curry, Golden State has many holes on their current roster, with 10 players reaching free agency this summer.
Of those 10, forward Draymond Green and center Kristaps Porzingis are the most notable. Porzinigis is an unrestricted free agent, while Green has a player option for one more season. If Green were to decline his option, odds are that the two sides would discuss a long-term deal instead.

According to NBA insider Nick Friedell, Golden State seems to have gotten off to a good start when it comes to negotiations between them and the frontcourt duo. Friedell reported that "Dunleavy says the Warriors have been in contact with Draymond/Porzingis and their representatives and sounds confident that discussions have been positive leading into free agency."
While Green should be easy to retain due to his desire to stay, having spent 14 seasons with the franchise, Porzingis may be more difficult to keep, given the number of suitors Golden State will have to outbid. Golden State's desire to save money may also come into play for Porzingis, who could be looking for the last long-term deal of his career this summer at age 30.
