German national team head coach Julian Nagelsmann is not going to waver on his stance — Leroy Sané will keep his starting spot at right wing vs. Ivory Coast on Saturday.

“He has trained well. I’m not someone that can be swayed by the public opinion. I don’t see why I should drop him,” Nagelsmann said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “They’ve been great in World Cup qualifiers and the friendlies. They’re quite unpredictable in the way they play. They are really strong on the wings, their energy on and off the ball is extraordinary. They are very disciplined in the way they press, but also in the way they react when they win the ball. We’ll try to counter their strengths tomorrow as best as possible.”

As for the game, Nagelsmann just wants a win.

“We want to win, that’s the goal. There’s no real reason for me to change anything about the lineup, but I’m also not going to tell you every single one of my thoughts right now. We are excited and believe it’s going to be a really good game,” the head coach stated.

Germany should be favored, but Ivory Coast does present some danger. The Germans are well-equipped to handle any trouble coming their way, but it should be an interesting test for Die Mannschaft.
