· Yahoo Sports

NFL teams have wrapped up their respective organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamps, and after a near month-long break, they’ll pick things back up near the end of July for training camp.

The first preseason game takes place on Thursday, Aug. 6 on NBC when the Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals face off in the Hall of Fame Game. The rest of the preseason’s first week will take place from Aug. 13-15, followed by Week 2 on Aug. 20-23, and Week 3 on Aug. 27-29.

But before the preseason gets underway, teams must first report to training camp. The Green Bay Packers report to training camp on July 27, and below is their biggest position battle to watch this summer.

Position Battle: CB | Keisean Nixon vs. Carrington Valentine vs. Benjamin St-Juste vs. Brandon Cisse vs. Domani Jackson

Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine are the incumbents, but neither played well enough to inspire much confidence in them in 2026.

Nixon played 657 coverage snaps, logging 72 tackles, 17 passes defended, three tackles for loss, and an interception, while allowing a 62.5 completion percentage against (55 catches allowed on 88 targets), and surrendering 623 yards and a team-high seven touchdowns.

Valentine wasn’t much better, playing 506 coverage snaps and totaled 31 tackles with four passes defended, and he allowed a 54.1 completion percentage against (33 receptions allowed on 61 targets) while surrendering 451 yards and six touchdowns, second-most behind Nixon.

Enter Benjamin St-Juste. The 28-year-old had a career year last season, allowing a 47.5 completion percentage against (19 catches allowed on 40 targets), and he surrendered just 205 yards and one touchdown on 263 coverage snaps. It’s possible he could break camp as green Bay’s CB1.

The secondary is such an issue that the Packers used their first pick in the 2026 draft on Cisse and four picks later grabbed Jackson.

College quarterbacks didn’t complete a lot of passes when throwing Cisse’s way. He allowed a 51.8 completion percentage in three seasons, and he allowed just three total touchdowns with 10 passes defended. It wouldn’t be surprising if he started the year as a starter.

Jackson was a strong cover corner the last two years at Alabama. He allowed just 10.3 yards per catch during that time and surrendered only two touchdowns with two interceptions.
