How Bucks fans on social media are reacting to the Giannis trade
· Yahoo Sports
Milwaukee Bucks fans have been forced to listen to Giannis Antetokounmpo trade speculation for far, far too long.
So while Monday, June 22, 2026, was truly the end of an era and a sad night for many, the fact that Antetokounmpo will finally be traded to the Miami Heat in a package that includes three first-round draft picks and Greenfield native Tyler Herro, the actual move certainly wasn't a shock to Bucks Nation.

Perhaps the almost daily ad nauseum banter from national media over the years of Antetokounmpo eventually leaving Milwaukee for a bigger market despite showing loyalty to the franchise by signing multiple contract extensions prepared them for Giannis' summer exit after 13 mostly glorious years with the Bucks.
Genuinely feel for Bucks fans. The last four years, with the incessant talk about a seemingly inevitable Giannis trade, must have been terribly wearing. But they got a decade-plus of excellence, and a championship, from one of the two best players in franchise history. pic.twitter.com/Fs2CouHDaO

After it was reported that the Bucks and the Heat had reached an agreement on a trade late Monday night, most Bucks fans that posted immediate reactions didn't rant or appear angry. Many Giannis supporters typed various quick digital forms of gratitude to the global superstar. Thank you notes for the many outstanding memories Antetokounmpo provided, including an NBA championship in 2021.
Others appeared pleased with the Bucks' return in the trade that included Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel'el Ware and Kasparas Jakučionis in addition to the draft picks.
Here's a sample of Bucks and NBA posters bidding adieu to Giannis' time in Milwaukee:
I think Jon Horst and #Bucks ownership did a tremendous job on this Giannis deal landing young talent in Herro and Ware, a solid role player in Jaquez, and they will have 2 picks in the lottery plus 2 future unprotected 1sts

Taylor Jenkins will also oversee this rebuild

The Bucks and Giannis felt it was time to move on after 13 incredible seasons together.

Miami’s trade package was the best offer that Milwaukee was going to receive.
Milwaukee Bucks got every single promising young player on Miami and got 3 1sts and a peak swap

Giannis was on an expiring contract too. What a haul
Weirdly, I don’t think Giannis is any closer to a championship. This feels a lot more like his relationship with the Bucks organization was broken beyond repair.
