Louisville's Mikel Brown Jr. was the choice.

They took him over Kingston Flemings, Darius Acuff Jr. and Brayden Burries.

This isn't how mock drafts saw it going, but it's a big-time swing by Sean Marks and the Nets.

Why did the Nets draft Mikel Brown Jr.?

Brown has immense upside.

He was the top point guard in his class coming into college.

More importantly, maybe, he's got the best outside shot of all these point guards.

This season, he had a 45-point game during conference play against NC State in which he hit 10 3-pointers.

The only risk is his back injury that bugged him down the stretch, but if Brown is healthy, he's a home run pick by the Nets.

He's not just a scorer, either. He's a great passer with awesome court vision.

The Nets have a lot of guards, but that didn't stop this pick. It was only a matter of choosing which point guard they wanted.

In the end, they picked Brown. He'll have a chance to do great things.
