Cucurella: “I don’t need Vinicius to defend, I’ll do the dirty work”

Real Madrid’s newest left-back Marc Cucurella talked to Radio MARCA and shared his first thoughts after completing his move to the Spanish capital. Naturally, he was asked about sharing the left wing with Vinicius Junior.

“I think I’ll hit it off with him. I don’t care if he doesn’t track back, I’ll do all the dirty work he doesn’t want to do. As long as he’s decisive and fresh to score goals, I’ll happily eat up the grunt work. Vinicius has proven he’s a decisive and influential player in Real Madrid’s Champions League campaigns,” said the Spanish defender.

Cucurella also talked about his conversation with José Mourinho.

“When a coach like Mourinho gives you a call, that’s something to be proud of. He wrote to me, and then he called me. For him to call you up and tell you stuff, that’s a big deal. I’m really looking forward to getting started with him. I’m at a great point right now and I’m super excited to play for Real Madrid,” he explained.

The Spanish player is looking forward to the challenge of playing for Real Madrid.

“It’s a huge challenge. All Real Madrid players are good. Fitting in at Real Madrid isn’t easy. You gotta be at 100% every game. Every team wants to beat you,” he concluded.

Cucurella has been one of Spain’s best players during the FIFA World Cup, so Real Madrid will be hoping to get the same version of him when the season kicks off.
