Drake Maye's placement in top-100 ranking has Patriots fans furious

A recent CBS top 100 player ranking shook a hornet's nest when it was revealed that New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was placed at No. 61 on the list.

That would be the same Maye who led the league in completion percentage, won 14 games and went to Super Bowl LX last season. It's the same player who finished second behind Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford in NFL MVP voting in only his second season.
Reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett topped the list, while Stafford, the reigning NFL MVP, finished second overall.
CBS' Pete Prisco briefly explained his reasoning for ranking Maye so low with the following:
"He finished second in MVP voting in his second season, leading the Patriots to the Super Bowl. He threw 31 touchdown passes and just eight interceptions, but he didn't play well in the postseason. (Last season: NR)"
Maye's play dropped off significantly in the postseason. However, it is often overlooked that he played against three consecutive top-five defensive teams in the Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos and Houston Texans. Even the Los Angeles Chargers were a top-10 defense when facing the Patriots in the wild-card round.
Those performances also came behind an inexperienced offensive line with a 32-year-old Stefon Diggs as his best receiving target. Regardless, Maye was ranked ninth among all NFL quarterbacks on a list that seemed to have drawn the ire of most Patriots fans.
Here's what fans were saying about the ranking on social media:
CBS released a Top 100 Players in the NFL list. And Drake Maye is far down in the rankings. Like, WAY far down. What are your thoughts?@richkented@KenLairdWEEI@teddyjradio@heyrichhey@WEEI#Patriots, #NFL, #Football, #DrakeMayepic.twitter.com/E0HbRHsWjY

mvp runner up at 61, continues to get disrespected, eh?

Qb’s above him that didn’t even make the playoffs 🤣

One of the dumbest ranking I’ve ever seen for any player in the history of sports

OMG with this playoff narrative. Ignoring all the things that were working against him, and he made a SB in a bridge year without 1 legit WR1. So better stats but not winning games trumps lesser stats but winning games, ahhh ok

Analysts formulate these opinions the same way most casual fans do, by narrative of other media. They watch their favorite teams so are most familiar with them. Pats fans know how good Maye is because we watch the Pats every week.

If we're basing it off what they did last season, then why the hell are Allen, Burrow, and Mahomes ahead of him? Last I recall Allen was costing his team a playoff game too

This list hasn’t been accurate since 2019

By that logic Gonzalez should be top 10. Was lights out in the playoffs. List is a joke.

It was the schedule but playing 3 top 5 defenses disappears

Somehow Dak is ranked higher when he’s done nothing on the postseason. 🤦🏾♂️
