Once training camp begins, positional battles for playing time as well as roster spots will take center stage for the Indianapolis Colts.
But how many roster spots are actually up for grabs?

We recently went position by position, taking a look at who is a roster lock, who is on the bubble, and at some positions, there are players likely to make the roster but not quite locks.
Below is a look at how many roster locks we determined there are at each position.

- Tight end (3): Tyler Warren, Mo Alie-Cox, Drew Ogletree
- Offensive line (7): Bernhard Raimann, Quenton Nelson, Tanor Bortolini, Matt Goncalves, Jalen Travis, Jalen Farmer, Dalton Tucker
- Defensive tackle (3): DeForest Buckner, Grover Stewart, Colby Wooden
- Defensive end (3): Laiatu Latu, Jaylahn Tuimoloau, Arden Key
- Linebacker (3): CJ Allen, Bryce Boettcher, Akeem Davis-Gaither

Altogether, by our estimation, there are 36 players who are true roster locks heading into Colts' training camp. But we also had an additional 12 players who more than likely make the team, although they might not quite be roster locks.
So, when it comes to how many roster spots are truly up for grabs for summer, at the very high-end it is 17, while at the low-end it's just five. I would guess the actual number is closer to that low-end figure.
