Real Madrid remain in the market for a new signing in midfield despite having already brought in Bernardo Silva this summer.

Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea has emerged as one of the main targets for Los Blancos to strengthen the position, but a move for him could be a costly affair due to Chelsea’s price tag.

As such, the Spanish capital giants are keeping an eye on alternatives in the market, one of whom happens to be Borussia Dortmund and Germany midfielder Felix Nmecha.

Manchester United ramp up efforts for Nmecha

However, according to journalist Patrick Berger of Sky Germany, Manchester United are now stepping up their efforts to sign Nmecha from Borussia Dortmund.

As per the report, Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the 25-year-old midfielder’s situation at Signal Iduna Park.

Also tracking the Germany midfielder are Manchester City and Liverpool. However, it is Manchester United who have started pursuing the player’s signing with the greatest intent.

The Red Devils’ director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, is understood to be in close contact with Nmecha’s camp.

Future Premier League move possible

However, the report states that any move away from Dortmund appears unlikely for Nmecha in the current summer.

Indeed, the 25-year-old ace is happy and settled at the Bundesliga club and is not considering a departure, while remaining fully focused on the World Cup with Germany.

Furthermore, it is claimed that following Niklas Sule’s retirement, Nmecha is set to move into the salary bracket previously occupied by the former German centre-back at Dortmund in the upcoming season.

But the report does suggest that a move to the Premier League in the near future could be possible for the German international.

For now, though, any move for Nmecha, to Real Madrid or even Manchester United, who are pursuing him intently, appears unlikely.

As far as Los Blancos are concerned, everything indicates that Enzo Fernandez could end up being the player signed to reinforce the midfield. However, before making any new additions, the club will need to make some sales and create some room.
