It was reported on Monday night that Jaylen Brown has "grown frustrated" with the Boston Celtics' approach in seeking a trade partner for the All-Star.
Celtics legend Robert Parish is clearly on Brown's side too, saying that Boston's potential move of the former NBA Finals MVP is "disturbing."
Now, the Celtics are reportedly running out of options for a possible suitor for Brown and are needing to "significantly" alter their offers.
"Barring a drastic and unforeseen change in the market, the Boston Celtics will have to significantly lower their asking price if they plan on trading him anytime soon," NBA insider Sam Amick of The Athletic wrote. "And while there is some interest in Brown out there, the fact-finding I’ve done over the course of the past couple days strongly indicates that it’s nowhere near the level they’d like."
The Portland Trail Blazers have been mentioned numerous times as a team with interest in JB, but they acquired former Rookie of the Year guard Ja Morant in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.
"League sources have been tying the Blazers to Brown for some time now, but all indications are that their interest is moderate, at best. And, again, nothing close to what the Celtics have been asking for, according to sources who spoke on condition of anonymity to describe ongoing deliberations," Amick wrote.
The senior NBA writer also reported that the Denver Nuggets' reported interest in Brown "has been significantly overstated" and they haven't talked to the Celtics "since the weekend."
At this point, Boston could have to pivot once again, attempt to repair its relationship with the former No. 3 overall pick and think about moving forward together.
"The Nets are another team that has been tied to Brown but the Nets are not engaged with the Celtics at all and don’t appear to be heading in that direction, those sources said," Amick reported. "All in all, this makes many wonder where the Celtics go from here. If they don’t move Brown, there will be some serious relationship rehabilitation to be done between the two sides with how this summer has unfolded."
