After a busy summer of taking visits and working out at camps, Jaxson Carper is starting to formulate a handful of favorites.

That list could be narrowed down even more as the 2028 four-star quarterback from Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure focuses on a select few.

Arizona, Nebraska, UCLA, Iowa and Kansas would be in that top group and the Wildcats definitely have his attention since the coaching staff has been so involved with him and he loves the whole group in Tucson as well.

“Arizona is a top school for me right now,” Carper said. “I like Nebraska a lot. UCLA, Iowa is up there, Kansas, that’s the top five right now.

“Arizona is top-two for sure.

“Coach (Seth) Doege is a great guy. Whenever I’m out there he always makes me feel welcomed every time, he makes sure to spend time with me. I’m with him in the meeting rooms and I have a great time when I’m there.

Coach (Brent) Brennan always talks to me. He lets me know what’s going on. The recruiting assistant, coach (Tyler Osborne), I love coach Ty. He makes sure I’m good all the time. The whole staff is amazing honestly.”

Carper has closely watched the success of Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita over the years and while the two play different games, it’s definitely another positive for the Wildcats in his recruitment.

“That’s huge,” Carper said.

“He’s not the biggest guy but he’s a top guy for sure. The way they help him, build him up and they talk so highly about him, they have confidence in him. You want to see that in a  program. If I go there, they might talk about me like that and it would be amazing.”

As for other favorites, UCLA and Nebraska stand out most.

After a workout in Westwood, the Ventura St. Bonaventure standout landed his offer from the Bruins. And his trip to Nebraska this summer absolutely blew him away.

“I was (at UCLA) for an unofficial and a camp, it was like a private camp, just meeting the head coach he’s a great guy,” Carper said. “When I got the offer, he said congrats and that they’d be in a lot of contact with me.

“Just being around the program itself, it was big. I felt the energy. It’s not the old UCLA there. They’re coming this year for sure.

“(At Nebraska) I didn’t know what to expect for my unofficial visit but when I got there, it was crazy. Everyone there loved the place and they talked so highly about it. Everyone from the QB coach to the OC to the head coach knew my name, it was crazy.

“The players are bought in. It was a Saturday and everybody was there doing extra work which is big. They’re working every single day even when they don’t have to.”

No gameday visits are locked in for sure yet but the four-star quarterback plans to be at games at Kansas, Nebraska, UCLA, Arizona and Iowa this fall.
