MSU football posts brutal season in beat writer's EA Sports video game simulation

If the real football season goes anything like one recent video game simulation from a beat writer, then Pat Fitzgerald may not see a second season in East Lansing, Mich.
Emmett Matasovsky of Spartan Shadows recently ran a simulated season in the new EA Sports college football video game, specifically focusing on the Spartans. And, well, it didn't go well at all for Michigan State.
Visit biznow.biz for more information.
According to a social media post from Matasovsky, Michigan State finished the season with a 1-11 overall record and 1-8 mark in Big Ten play. If you can do the math on that, you'll realize Michigan State lost all three of its non-conference games including a season-opening loss to Toledo followed by another home loss to Eastern Michigan.
The lone win for the Spartans came during their homecoming matchup against Illinois by the score of 42-17. If you click on the embedded social media post below, you can see some more stats and numbers from Matasovsky on the simulated season:
Record: 1-11 (1-8 Big Ten)

The Spartans lost a heartbreaker to Toledo in week one, 31-29, then got embarrassed by Eastern, 27-9.
Their only win came on Homecoming, with a 42-17 win over Illinois. https://t.co/D4JfvyruvG
Michigan State is entering the season with low expectations in the first season under Fitzgerald. But even those low expectations still have Michigan State projected to win around four games -- not one. Additionally, it would truly be astonishing if the Spartans were to open the season with back-to-back losses to Mid-American Conference teams at home. Like I said at the top, if the Spartans lose to both Toledo and Eastern Michigan, then I will find it hard for Fitzgerald to be welcomed back for a second season.
These kind of simulations are fun to run and I'm personally interested in doing this myself soon when I get the new version of the video game. I just hope this particular simulation isn't telling for the upcoming season in real life...
