A 53-year-old woman is facing charges after another female was stabbed multiple times during a road rage incident in Oshawa.

On Wednesday at around 7:20 p.m., Durham cops responded to a stabbing in the area of Lakeview Park and Simcoe St. after the suspect was allegedly involved in a road rage fight with a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman.

It’s alleged that the man and woman used bear spray after the suspect brandished a knife and the woman victim was stabbed multiple times before the suspect fled the area.

The victim was taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre in serious but stable condition.

Cops charged Arlene Sophia Moore with aggravated assault, two counts of assault with a weapon and one count of possess weapon dangerous.

Toronto man charged in hate-motivated assault

Police have charged a 44-year-old Toronto man in connection with a suspected hate-motivated assault with a weapon in the Adelaide St. West and Spadina Ave. area.

It is alleged that on Thursday, the accused approached the victim and assaulted them with a metal pole without provocation while making anti-Sikh discriminatory comments.

Cops say the victim sustained minor injuries to their head and had been targeted because of their religious attire.

Mathieu Basuk faces charges of assault with a weapon and this investigation is being treated as a suspected hate-motivated offence.

Man sought in Scarborough assault

Toronto police are seeking a male suspect after a reported assault in Scarborough early Friday morning.

Cops responded to the area of a park at Ellesmere Rd. and Morningside Ave. at around 5:40 a.m. after receiving a call that someone had been assaulted and the suspect was armed with a knife.

A man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries by Toronto paramedics.

The suspect has been described as a Black male, possibly in his teens, standing about 5-foot-7, with a thin build, wearing black pants and a black sweatshirt.

Four facing charges in cheque fraud case

Three men and one woman are facing multiple charges in relation to a $1.9 million cheque fraud investigation in Uxbridge.

Durham cops allege that on March 16, a woman cashed a fraudulent cheque valued at over $1.9 million at an Uxbridge bank.

Sometime between March 16 and 20, the woman and three men allegedly conducted bank transfers, withdrawals, e-transfers, wire payments, and completed bank drafts to launder these funds. The foursome was allegedly able to fraudulently obtain more than $890,000 before all the money was frozen.

Following an investigation by the Financial Crimes Unit, four suspects were located and taken into custody.

Helia Bayegan, 50, of Richmond Hill, is charged with fraud over $5,000, uttering a forged document, laundering proceeds of Canadian crime, and possessing proceeds obtained by crime over $5,000.

Arvin Singh Dhaliwal, 28, of Wasaga Beach, and Peyman Pornour, 45, of North York, are both charged with laundering proceeds of Canadian crime and possessing proceeds obtained by crime over $5,000.

Yiang Leng, 30, of Toronto, is charged with possession of proceeds obtained by crime over $5,000.
